PROJECT NARRATION

This is the second project from our client, who is currently developing a rental accommodation business in Bali. Located in Uluwatu, the apartment offers panoramic views of Bali’s southern coastline. The architectural design adopts a contemporary Australian mid-rise style combined with Balinese architectural influences, reflected in both the conceptual design process and the selection of finishing materials.

From the initial narrative, the landscape concept was developed around the idea of creating private outdoor spaces while maximizing the ocean view. The client also wanted abundant natural light throughout the building, including warm afternoon sunlight coming from the west. The use of consistent hardscape materials, with natural tones and simple forms, enhances the calm, spacious, and relaxing atmosphere of the residence.

In terms of planting, the entire landscape utilizes resilient, low-water-demand plants. The arrangement adopts an Australian-inspired coastal garden style, combined with tropical planting in areas requiring a clear separation between public and private spaces. Sound-buffering boundaries are also integrated through the strategic selection and placement of plants within the apartment landscape concept.
